Technical SEO done right
Schema markup, semantic HTML, Core Web Vitals, internal linking, and crawl budget tuned by people who actually read Google's documentation.
SEO for chambers, EDOs, cities, and tourism boards means engineering your website to rank for the specific phrases your audience searches — site selectors searching for available buildings, residents searching for utility outage info, visitors searching for things to do, and businesses searching to join a chamber — while simultaneously earning citations in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews. Southwind builds technical, local, and answer-engine SEO programs for the public-sector clients big SEO agencies don't take seriously.

Who It's For
In Depth
Most SEO agencies were built for SaaS companies chasing 10,000-visit-per-month keywords. Public-sector SEO is the opposite: high-intent, low-volume, hyper-local. 'Marketing agency for rural Oklahoma communities' has 40 searches a month — but the three people who type it in are exactly your three best prospects. We optimize for the long-tail combinations your buyers actually use: city plus role plus need ('Norman Oklahoma economic development marketing'), platform comparisons ('GrowthZone vs custom chamber website'), and direct buyer questions ('how to measure ROI for an EDO'). Volume is small; conversion is huge.
Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) is engineering content so it gets cited inside AI-generated answers — Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude. Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the broader practice of structuring an entire site so that generative engines treat it as authoritative on a topic. For a chamber, EDO, or city, AEO and GEO mean: every key page opens with a 2 to 4 sentence direct-answer paragraph that an LLM can quote verbatim, every page ships with FAQ schema using the literal questions your buyers ask, your site appears in a high-quality llms.txt manifest, and you publish original primary research (community surveys, member surveys, vacancy data) that nobody else has — because LLMs preferentially cite primary sources.
You don't try to outrank giant national directories on broad terms like 'Oklahoma marketing agency'. You win on specificity: 'marketing agency for rural Oklahoma communities', 'EDO marketing Norman Oklahoma', 'chamber of commerce website redesign Kansas'. Each of those has under 100 monthly searches and a keyword difficulty under 10. We map 30 to 50 of those long-tail phrases per client, build one pillar page or blog post per cluster, and interconnect them with internal links. Within 90 to 180 days, most clients are ranking page-1 for 40 to 80 percent of their targets.
Every page should open with a 2 to 4 sentence factual answer to the question that page targets — before the hero image, before the marketing copy, before the navigation rant. That paragraph is what ChatGPT and Perplexity extract as a citation. It must be self-contained (no 'as we discussed above'), specific (named cities, named platforms, real numbers), and structured as a clean factual sentence that can be quoted standalone. We rewrite every key service, industry, and location page on a client's site to follow that pattern as the first AEO move.
Adding FAQPage structured data with 4 to 7 literal buyer questions on every service, industry, and location page is one of the cleanest signals to AI engines that your page contains factual answers. The questions must be real questions buyers ask (not 'What is SEO?') and the answers must be 2 to 4 sentence direct quotes that an LLM can lift. We add FAQ schema to every page on every site we ship and we retrofit it onto existing client sites — typical result is 20 to 60 percent more impressions in AI Overviews within 60 days.
