Your board doesn't need 47 charts. It needs the right five. Here's the template.
EDO directors spend hours building board reports nobody reads carefully. The most effective board reports are short, recurring, and built around the same five metrics every month.
The five metrics
RFI submissions (this month, year-to-date, vs. last year). Active project pipeline (count and aggregate jobs/investment). BRE survey responses and top issues. Talent attraction funnel (visits, leads, closes). Website organic search performance.
The narrative structure
One paragraph of context. Five charts. One paragraph of recommended action. That's it. Anything longer gets skimmed.
What to add quarterly, not monthly
Press placements, competitor benchmarking, brand awareness research, and dashboard improvements belong in quarterly reports, not monthly. Monthly is for action; quarterly is for reflection.
